Immortal Gaze
Immortal Gaze (Italy)
20" x 16" acrylic on canvas, *gallery wrap

In 2010 I gazed upon this marble statue, bigger than life. As I recreated in paints I wondered about the model. He was young and muscular. Artists often used slaves to pose for them. I hope he was not that during his life, so many hundreds of years ago. If anyone can tell me the name of the original statue, I would appreciate it. I believe it "lives" inside the Uffizi in Florence, Italy.

*gallery wrapped paintings require no framing, paint extends around the 1.5" sides of the canvas
